To its credit, Ubisoft Montreal has regularly introduced special game modes such as Turbo Mode-which features faster health regeneration, zone closure, and crown spawns-to keep things fresh. While these limited-availability modes have helped Hyper Scape evolve mid-season, avid players are likely eager for the meatier season 2 changes arriving on October 6th. Other streamers have also questioned the longevity of the title in the face of more established franchises. The game's intense movement system may be partially to blame, as certain streamers, such as Nadeshot, confessed to being "afraid" of Hyper Scape. While Fortnite features its share of bouncing, gliding, and perilous mid-fight construction, its movement system is notably more sedated than Hyper Scape's, which hearkens back to a twitchier era of arcade shooters. Hopefully, this new content will help liven up Hyper Scape's combat, and buoy the game's somewhat lackluster presence on Twitch after a strong initial showing. The very end of the trailer promised Halloween themed content as well, including pumpkin decorations and a candy-themed emote. The trailer also announced a new landmark a multi-level building titled Memorial, and another new game mode, Crown Rush Duo. The hack will likely pair nicely with the new The Floor Is Lava game mode which coats the bottom-most level of the arena in smoldering magma. It also revealed a new hack power- one of Hyper Scape's defining features-that allows players to spawn platforms at will. The trailer for the new season revealed a new weapon, the Atrax, which seems to fire acidic globs that detonate after a short period of time. This AI randomly applies modifiers to the match parameters such as low-gravity or infinite ammo, while systematically erasing parts of the map to concentrate the conflict. Releasing in August after a brief open beta in July, Hyper Scape features intense duels in a Ready Player One-esque metaverse, moderated by an AI.
Ubisoft has released a trailer showcasing some of the new content headed to the free-to-play shooter. Hyper Scape, Ubisoft Montreal's high-tech entry into the crowded battle royale genre, is gearing up for its second season of competitive play.
